Going through the parts bins at an old state run bicycle shop that I like to call "The Pigeon's Nest", I occasionally come across some NOS parts. Such was the case last week when I found this chrome chainwheel guard from the 1980's or 1990s. Hard to believe, but the 1980's is already twenty years gone! And 20 years is like 100 years in China.
So will these parts make it on to my Flying Pigeon? I'm not a real fan of the silver platter look, but the slide has potential. What do you think?
It's nice, you might say, but the title of this entry is "Cheap Thrills". Where does that come in? I think you'd agree that is always thrilling to find NOS parts. And when they only cost 5 RMB...that's $0.73...so much the better. Cheap thrills indeed.
Yes, that is a good buy! It pays to be thrifty.

The thrill of the hunt! Good score, and cheap at that. I actually like the silver rim chaincase.
Last year while on an oveseas flight from Japn to the US and listening the "Oldies" program on the in-flight service, it was all music from the 80's! Yikes!

Yes, the silver slide on the black chain case looks really good but, what are you going to do do with the rest of the pie plate?

Where is "The Pigeon's Nest" located? What's its Chinese name?
I just bought a used Fei Ge and need to buy some parts.
Thanks.
