...or maybe the year. Don't think I will see anything like this again. Seen on an old Raleigh it is a three dial combination circle lock. Probably not the most efficient, or strongest lock out there, but it looks great!
Why it is called a Telephone Lock, I don't know, Maybe because it has dials like a telephone? Maybe it was repurposed from some telecommunications company usage? Again, it is a mystery. If anyone has any clues, let me know.
That is simply amazing and awesome! Never have I seen such a thing. I've seen the spoke type locks before for sure. They're about as useful as a fork lock as they will prevent someone from hopping aboard and riding off.... but would do nothing to keep someone from tossing the machine into the back of a van or pickup.
Still... that particular unit is just... I dunno.... I would love to have one just for aesthetical / conversational value!
You do come up with the unique stuff sir!!!!!
Cheers!

I found a similar one, referred to as a Japanese "O lock" from a company called Gorin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bike_O_Lock_Japan.jpg

Phil-
You are correct. "O-locks", or "circle lock"s or "Spoke locks" are pretty common. My own bike has one.

What made the the telephone lock unusual to me was the three dial combination set-up, which I have never seen elsewhere.
